Expo
2005 Aichi, Japan Special Mosa tiles in the Dutch Pavilion Tiles are a symbol not only of a tradition of high quality craftsmanship but also of modern interior design. This is clearly demonstrated at the Dutch pavilion at the World Exposition 2005 in Aichi, Japan, where the walls and floors are decorated with tiles from Royal Mosa. The company made the tiles specially for this occasion. There are no regrets in Maastricht about this investment. Mosa is proud of its contribution, which is proving a big success in Japan. The design of the Dutch pavilion at Expo is not only eye-catching
but also strikes exactly the right note. The facade is dominated by two
enormous images in Delft Blue, while bunches of tulips project from the
sides. One of the motifs is the ‘Liefde’, the first Dutch
ship to reach Japan, 405 years ago. The other is an interpretation of
Ruysdael’s painting ‘The windmill at Wijk bij Duurstede’.
This concept is based on a clear philosophy, says Gerard de Gorter of
Totems, Hoofddorp, the company that designed the pavilion. “Japanese
visitors are no different to Europeans. They want to see as many pavilions
as possible in the shortest possible time. It was therefore important
to choose a form that enables visitors to recognise the country immediately.
We looked for the Dutch icons that are most familiar to the Japanese.
They turned out to be Delft Blue and tulips.” |

Mosa Linea
LED & Terra LED awarded with Red Dot
The Red Dot Award for special achievement in the fields
of architecture and product design is conferred annually by a jury of
international design experts. With almost 2000 entries from 36 countries,
the Red Dot Award is one of the biggest design competitions in the world.
The competition is divided into two categories – product design
and communication design – which are handled and judged separately.
The desirable trophy for both is the Red Dot. Not only is it an international
mark of quality for outstanding design; it also indicates acceptance to
the very top in design and business. We are therefore justifiably proud
of this recognition. |

Mosa
Linea LED Mosa Terra LED is a combination of unglazed Terra Maestricht tiles with integrated LED lighting. LED tiles can be used to introduce surprising markings into tiled surfaces, achieving striking and innovative effects. This modern lighting technique makes it possible to introduce light in tiles, so that they can be processed together with the other tiles. They are the same tiles in the same size, the same thickness and the same quality. Suitable for floors or walls in the interiors of public places. Mosa Terra LED: the logical combination of function and design! Terra Maestricht is one of the top series from the Mosa assortment. The tiles are beautifully strictly in shape, with a magnificent mat optics and a natural ceramic appearance. The quality guarantees many years of intensive, trouble-free use, as well in- as outdoor.

Terra Strips The latest thing in architecture is the interplay of lines on walls and floors. Thanks to the three 60 cm luxury length sizes of Terra Maastricht strips, it is possible to achieve this new look on walls and floors. The strips are available in greys and warm shades and in smooth and relief versions. Mosa offers various patterns in the various format combinations, but it is important not to forget the horizontally laid pattern either. Or you can use smooth and relief strips alternately. The narrow strips are ideal for creating tile surfaces in round shapes and curved elements. Reinforced polystyrene hard foam, which can be supplied made-to-measure, is used for the base (info: www.luxelements.de) The quality of the Terra Maastricht strips guarantees problem-free use for many years for interiors and exteriors. |

'Kho Liang
Ie Collection' Mosa has revived a design classic from the Sixties: the ‘Kho Liang Ie Collection’. Gloss white tiles with a relief of circles, segments of circles, diagonals and triangles. Size 10 x 10 cm / 4" x 4". The relief tiles can be combined to create unusual effects. A smooth wall tile is also available to complement the relief tiles. Kho Liang Ie (1927-1975) was one of the most significant interior and industrial designers in the Netherlands. During his all too short career, Kho managed to create an impressive oeuvre. He was a designer of immeasurable value to furniture manufacturers like Artifort, CAR and Spectrum. In the Sixties he used the relief tiles he had designed for Mosa in the interior of Schiphol International Airport. |
