Swarovski stores by Tokujin Yoshioka

The new Swarovski flagship store in the Ginza area of Tokyo will open March 29, 2008. Its new design was created by designer Tokujin Yoshioka.

Modelled on this flagship store, all of the other Swarovski boutiques will be refurbished from 2008 according to the new architectural concept.

The concept Tokujin Yoshioka designed exclusively for Swarovski highlights the infinite possibilities of crystal and illustrates the deep affinity with the natural world.

About his interior “Crystal Forest” design, Mr. Yoshioka says,” On designing a new shop, I intended to express the true transparency and brilliance of crystal, which only Swarovski could create. I pondered on the concept, "Crystal Forest." . . . the entire wall is covered with white vertical reflections, and you wonder whether you were in the forest, jewelled with small crystal animals and a variety of jewellery. Each staged object increases its transparency and sparkles more in the forest with a lighting effect.”

The new design concepts for all Swarovski boutiques have resulted from the collaboration between Swarovski and the Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka winner of the Design Miami Designer of the Year award.
