Philippe Starck
by Princess.
The dutch Princess
Household Appliances BV launched a new product line: Philippe Starck by
Princess.
With the introduction
of a new product line designed by Philippe Starck, Princess Household
Appliances is adding a new, exclusive dimension to its already successful
activities on an international scale. The ‘Philippe Starck by Princess’
line embraces an exclusive series of products, varying from a radio clock
(for the bathroom) to dental and hair care articles. The line will be
phased into the market and meets all possible test or hallmark requirements.
Princess will be marketing the products designed by Philippe Starck worldwide,
with the exception of North America.
Design and home stores
The new product range will be sold through design and home stores. With
this approach, Princess is demonstrating that it can create and manufacture
products, but boast a fantastic design as well. At the same time, Princess
is generating more traffic toward design and home stores, which means
a significant expansion in the market for Princess Household Appliances,
which is active in over 65 countries throughout the world.
Intensive cooperation
During the course of this last year, intensive contact developed between
the brilliant Philippe Starck and Princess. While exchanging ideas, Starck
was charmed by the harmonious insights between his style and convictions
and those of Princess. Philippe Starck is also an advocate of combining
different products and functions into one appliance. As we know, Princess
has had a great deal of success with the combination of an electric kettle
and coffee machine into one product.
Princess is pleased that the
contact with the world-famous designer has led to a ‘second scrutiny’
of all the existing Princess articles. Philippe Starck has already given
Princess a number of tips, which are sure to result in the improved design
of various products. Princess considers the intensive cooperation with
Philippe Starck to be an investment in the future. The Far East As it
is, fortune is smiling upon Princess, because now that Princess has successfully
earned a place on the map in the Far East over the last few years, the
Princess product spectrum by Philippe Starck stands an excellent chance.
In any case, Western products enjoy a high degree of prestige on this
continent. Now that the name of Philippe Starck is linked to Princess,
the position that has been conquered in the Asian market can be further
developed with verve and style.
Articles
The first articles in the Princess line by Philippe Starck that can be
delivered in the middle of 2004 are: a hair dryer, a 3-in-1-curler set,
a radio-clock (for the bathroom), and a shaver and a beard trimmer. At
a later time, the following products will be added: two electric toothbrushes
(one model for adults and one for children) and two electric flossers
(also models for both adults and for children). All these products will
be supplied with a stand for storing parts and/or accessories, such as
the lead. The hair dryer is very powerful (1850 Watts) and has two heat
settings and a cool setting. The handle is easy to rotate. The hair dryer
will be supplied with two different nozzles.
The 3-in-1 curler set comprises
three accessories with a ‘cool tip’, which means that the
user can interchange parts without the risk of burning his/her fingers.
These accessories include: a 30-millimetre curling iron, a 40-millimetre
curling iron and a spiral iron to create ringlets and spirals in the hair.
The radio-clock is moisture-resistant
and the radio has an AM- and an FM-waveband; it can receive all channels.
The little clock is an LCD type, with adjustable light intensity.
The toothbrushes, which will
be introduced onto the market at a later time, incorporate ultrasonic
technology. The special feature of this inventive appliance is that the
sonic (sound) waves break down dental plaque and prevent irritation or
bleeding of the gums. The toothbrushes are supplied with four brushes.
The appliance is rechargeable (induction) and automatically switches off
after three minutes.
