Tom Dixon and George Smith transform a Knightsbridge ballroom into an upholstery factory where they will be creating a new collection on site. Originally the home of eminent painter Sir John Lavery, this 18th Century building provides a fitting backdrop for the experimental fusing of cutting edge contemporary design with centuries old traditional craft skills. The event will prove that British manufacturing and innovation are still alive as well as showing off a collaboration of two industry stalwarts that has already received international acclaim. Skilled craftsmen will demonstrate traditional upholstery techniques using some traditional upholstery materials such as boar bristle, horsehair, steel springs, padding and muslin.
