Light+Building – International Trade Fair for Architecture and Technology – will be held at an almost fully booked out Exhibition Centre in Frankfurt am Main from 6 to 11 April 2008. In 18 exhibition halls, over 2,100 exhibitors, including all national and international market leaders, will show innovations and numerous energy-efficient systems from the interrelated fields of lighting, electrical engineering and house and building automation. But how can exhibitors find what they are looking for among this huge variety of products? Thanks to the clearly structured product groups, this is not difficult. The three main sections, lighting, electrical engineering and house and building automation, offer an initial overview.

At the fair, the world's biggest platform for the lighting market, around 1,500 companies will be presenting the entire spectrum of lighting technology, e.g., technical luminaires and lamps in all variations and for all applications, as well as decorative lighting in a wide range of styles for the private and commercial sectors. Additionally, trade visitors will be offered a broad selection of lighting components and accessories. Light+Building 2008 also reflects the growing popularity of LED products, which are to be seen in a huge variety of designs on almost every stand.

Technical luminaires and lamps are to be found in four exhibition halls at the world's leading trade fair for the sector: in Hall 3, Hall 4, the 'Forum' and the 'Festhalle'. The companies making their presentations in Hall 3 include international names, such as Artemide, Bega Gantenbrink-Leuchten, Erco Leuchten, Flos, Fontana Arte, iGuzzini illuminazione, Luceplan, Trilux and Targetti Sankey, while Osram, Philips, Siteco Beleuchtungstechnik and Zumtobel Lighting rank among those to be seen in the 'Festhalle' and the 'Forum'. Special luminaires, such as explosion-proof fittings and a broad spectrum of LED products are concentrated in Halls 4.1 and 4.2.

Urban lighting with a wide variety of outdoor lighting
The wide range outdoor lighting is to be seen in Hall 5.0. The companies making presentation in the Urban Lighting segment, where the focus is on outdoor lighting for public spaces, include Ewo, Hess Lichttechnik, Santa & Cole Neoseries, Schréder and Simes. Outdoor lighting can also be seen under particularly realistic conditions at the Agora, the outdoor exhibition area.

Decorative luminaires in an array of different styles for the commercial and private spheres are to be found in Halls 5.1 and 6.1. Decorative lighting is split into three main styles – Modern Design, Classic Modern and Classic Traditional – to help trade visitors gain their bearings in this product segment. The exhibitors showing classic decorative lighting in Hall 6.1 include Antonio Almerich, Hans Kögl, Iris Cristal, Joachim Holländer, Kurt Faustig and Menzel Werkstätten. Modern decorative luminaires are located in Hall 5.1 and among the companies exhibiting here are, for example, Bankamp, B+M Leuchten, Grossmann, Holtkötter and Simon&Schelle.

The importance of design, not only for decorative lighting in Halls 5.1 and 6.1 but also for technical lighting, is shown clearly by the new name, Technical Design Oriented Luminaires, introduced at Light+Building 2008 for the products to be seen in Hall 1.2. The renowned manufacturers in the segment include, for example, Axel Meise Licht, B Lux, Ingo Maurer, Nimbus, Oligo, Prandina, Serien, Steng Licht, Terzani, Tobias Grau and Vanlux (SIDI Group). Modern design especially for the commercial sector is to be seen in Hall 1.1 with exhibitors such as Brand van Egmond, DARK, Escale, Firme di Vetro, Quasar and Swarovski.
