A brand can be
strong. In fact a brand can be so strong that publicity firm KesselsKramer
in Amsterdam decided to create an entirely empty brand. They called
it ‘do’ and left it to be supported by products in a much
later stage.
Droog design approached KesselsKramer in 1999 and proposed
to have several designers come up with products for ‘do’.
They were to presented at the Milan Fair in 2000.
The products are meant to force users to put their personal mark on
them. They were shown together with large photographs showing the context
and the users after the had done their duty.
do create is a collection of products designed according
to the philosophy of do. Like the do brand itself, do create products
ask the consumer to interact, add their own interpretation and make
the products come alive. A do create product will then become a one
of a kind, beyond the control of the designer. The do create collection
is not limited to a certain product range or material. It can be a chair,
a lamp, a plate or even a shirt.
