Two major cultural organisations in Rotterdam got new looks in the last year; The International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Ro Theatre have adopted a new visual identity.
Both of them were designed by the Rotterdam-based bureau 75B. Next to the corporate identity they are responsible for the promotional campaigns of these organisations.
So these week the Rotterdam streets were dominated by striking posters for the 39th edtion of the International Film Festival and the new Ro production 'Branden'. Both expressions clearly fit the characteristics of 75B designs; conceptual, no-nonsense, ironical and tongue-in-cheek. Both identities are set up just in black and white and have a simple and strong graphic base. Since last year 75B is lead by Rens Muis (Rotterdam, 1974) and Pieter Vos (Utrecht, 1971). They started working since they met at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. From their predilection for small-scale subcultural initiatives a body of work grew that also persuaded more prestigious art initiatives to engage 75B’s services. Next to commissioned works they develop autonomous works that bear the signature '75B'. These works are part of the exhibition 'Artefacts' at Vivid gallery that opens this sunday, January 31
